We welcome back our favorite time of the year and The Red Tie has hit the road once again for our haunt tour.
We’ve been coming to Dread Hollow since our very beginning, dating all the way back to when it was in the depths of Ruby Falls.
Throughout all those years, Dread Hollow has consistently delivered a MUST-SEE experience. Always finding their way into our official top ten ranking or our official Fan-Vote. They also are ONLY 1 of 2 haunts to EVER receive a perfect score from Scurryface.
DH is one of the very few haunts who delivers a well thought out, detailed backstory and theme. And here’s the beauty of it, THEY…STICK…TO…IT. It’s truly an immersive thing to experience if you pay attention and realize what is going on. This isn’t your ordinary haunt; they bring the story to life, and you live it! It all begins as you enter into the town of Dread Hollow, and you encounter the locals while peering into little shops. When we say details, we can’t even describe the attention to details. DH’s que is like its own mini version of a twisted Universal Studios theme you’d see waiting in line for a popular ride.
The crazy thing is this is the pre-show!
When you begin your journey, you will venture into 3 themes: Rosemose Sanatorium - Camp Dread and Dread Hollow High School (New addition)
You will encounter popular characters such as The Mother, The Man-Eater, Alan Wayne and Principle Goreman.
The High School is their newest theme, and it was so much fun to experience. From the Hall Monitor to the music teacher to the Janitor. This crew kept us on our toes, and we were fully thrown into this demented HS world.
Some of my personal highlights were the actors in the que, especially the one with the squirting plunger. We didn’t see that coming and we didn't think anything of it as he pointed it towards Vice. Then next thing we knew, a stream of water comes flying out and it hits Vice and her reaction was unforgettable. The “cheerleader” that I was quickly corrected on that she’s a football player. Her interactions were great, and we can’t forget “Biscuit”, Biscuit's energy the entire night was 2nd to none and always had us hanging back in the shadows checking out the performance.
Inside the experience, the elevator ride is one of our personal favorites, but it’s sold with the actor’s performance. He keeps everyone laughing while also on edge throughout that entire experience.
There are so many things and aspects that I personally love about Dread Hollow when it comes to their set designs, details, actors, performances etc.. I hate not naming them all, but if I did. This article would take hours to read, and we’d spoil everything great about this amazing haunt. We want everyone to experience this haunt for themselves instead of it being spoiled in a fully detailed article or video walk-through. Dread Hollow deserves your presence.
Vice’s thoughts: “It all starts with the journey to Dread Hollow for me with the anticipating excitement of what is new, or how they would top the previous year's scenes/acting. I know that each year they come up with a new theme and they always outdo the previous years, without fail. They have out done themselves this year with the theme “Alan Wake” which made me so happy to see, and without giving too much away, they nailed it with scenes, clothing, acting and props. From when you enter the haunt to leaving, there is always something happening. Dread Hollow is one of my top 5 haunts, so if you are thinking about going, I strongly encourage you to do so. You will NOT be disappointed. I can't wait to be back again to see what theme they rock next year.”
The experience you will receive from DH is nothing short of amazing. The actors were on point from start to finish, working the entire scenes, popping out multiple times throughout the scene. Fully convincing in their roles. One of many things we at SF praise about DH is their actors and costuming. They pride themselves in fully committing to their roles and attention to details. After all these years, they NEVER disappoint.
Dread Hollow gives you one of the most immersive experiences that you will find in the entire haunt industry! We HIGHLY recommend you put this haunt on your list for the 2024 season as this is seriously one of the best shows we've experienced from them!
