Welcome everyone to Wizzos Thoughts on Haunts. I'm Wizzo, your imaginary friend, and these are strictly my thoughts and experiences. This is not a review and there is absolutely no ranking system.
Once again, I found myself needing to be a brand new customer as I headed to Fear Complex in Colorado Springs Colorado. This haunt is the sister haunt to Hellscream and just like before, I have a deep connection to them.
I needed to do some research about the haunt so I checked out the website. Much like Hellscream, their website was easy to navigate through. A season calendar and pricing is super easy to find. I wanted to see if there was a storyline for Fear Complex but there was not.
"I like to pretend I'm in the story when I walk through!" Said Wizzo.
The site does however give you a quick run down of the different areas in the haunt. Fear Complex is set up as four themes in one, which if you just read the site quickly, you would think there's actually four haunts.
Upon arrival, I went straight to the parking lot and just like Hellscream, if I was a brand new customer, I wouldn't know where to park. I went up to the ticket booth and got my tickets. I was given the rules and sent into line. I got the VIP pass so I could skip the line a bit, but was quickly saddened when I realized I couldn't get a selfie with the photo opportunity.
"That was a pretty neat car too!" Wizzo exclaimed.
I almost got to the front door by the time the first line monster arrived. There was a patient that kept trying to climb in the cursing well that kept my attention mostly.
As I approached the two story building I was greeted by a large clown working the door. He opened the door and I went in. A short hallway and a set of upwards stairs starts the adventure leading you into the hospital area. The patients, nurses, and doctors roamed the halls and tried to keep me there for an experiment.
"I'm imaginary, not a space alien, geesh!"
As I moved out of the hospial, I walked through a small forest area and stumbled upon some old ladies house. The inhabitants of the house seemed a bit angry I was there and kept staring at me. Once through the house and all of its crazies, I ended up in a mining office.
An elevator operator had me file into his contraption as he started to sing. The bumpy elevator ride was over and the operator opened the door. I walked down a flight of stairs, under a giant wendigo, and through some caves. A cave monster was crawling around keeping me on my toes and stalking me.
"These piggies aren't going to your market monster!"
After leaving the caves I found myself in a small swamp full of overgrown snakes and gators. There was also an extremely large snake that almost ate my leg.
I began to wonder if my journey was over and just as I questioned, a clown was there at a ticket booth handing out 3d glasses. What was about to happen? I made my way over a wobbly bridge and was verbally assaulted by a different clown.
"They said I smelled like cheese!"
The clown area really stood out with the glasses and all the props. Some clowns were climbing on the walls and over your head just as you would suspect from insane clowns. I then entered a dim street scene with heavy metal music. As I rounded the fencing, a large chainsaw toting clown was at the end trying to cut me up.
"The chainsaw spit electricity at me!"
Overall it was a good experience. There were a few empty spots throughout the house but much like Hellscream, they filled in the space nicely.
