The Red TIe Tour continues as we find ourselves in Canton, Georgia at Paranoia Haunted House.
We’re continuing a long streak of visiting this attraction for the 10th year straight. We absolutely love visiting this place. As we stated MULTIPLE times throughout the years, it’s just different here. It’s a huge spooky party/rock concert.
The energy at Paranoia is at 11 the ENTIRE night.
As always, GET THERE EARLY. Not only due to the long lines but so you can experience their opening ceremony which includes massive fireworks. Witnessing the anticipation from haunt goers prior to this haunt opening is so much fun to watch.
As you enter you will venture through their brand new queue experience which is so much better from years past. It’s so much simpler and easier to navigate as you have actors guiding you where to go and lit up signs. Another note to include is their new VIP and fastpass set up. It’s simple, fast and so much better than in the past. The changes to their queue has set the bar even more with their creepy crypt facade and gallows with the multiple gibbet frames. I found myself just hanging out in that area just taking in the sight with how the fog perfectly settles and how the lighting just illuminates the scene perfectly.
Paranoia like past seasons offers 2 attractions. Visceral and Possessed. Visceral being their “main attraction”. But in my personal opinion (if it means anything to our followers/readers) Possessed is like that opening band who rivals the performance of the headlining act.
Don’t sleep on this attraction as it’s more intimate with scares and actors who lurk and come from the shadows. I personally enjoy this style and theme at Paranoia. Every time I walk through I’m in awe of the detail and immersion while at the same time on edge with every step.
Visceral is Paranoia’s Metallica (liking the music references?) Sorry if you don’t like Metallica, but my point is. It doesn’t get any bigger when it comes to production. The insane attention to detail with every single step is mindblowing. There is ALWAYS something popping out, something happening, something moving, something causing you to focus on certain things. You seriously need to walk through multiple times to catch little things that you may have missed. Yes, Paranoia is heavy when it comes to animatronics and things of that nature. But the way they are utilized is simply great! But don’t let that distract you from the hoard of actors who take advantage of haunt goers who get fixated on watching all the flashy, cool things that move.
The actors are simply put, outstanding, not only with their performances, but how they work the groups and to every detail of their wardrobe and makeup.
Then we get to Paranoia’s TRUE midway experience. This midway is between the two haunts and serves as a legit midway to their attractions. Here you can hang out, take tons of photos with multiple props. The DJ keeps the party jumping and it never gets old seeing the area filled with “fobbles”. There are carnival games that you can play all night long and they are free to play. There’s food, drinks and snacks available. I highly recommend the sloppy joe. I couldn’t resist when I saw that on the menu. Paranoia offers an escape room and a merch trailer as you exit both attractions. The merch trailer has all kinds of unique oddities ranging from keychains, skulls, stuffed animals to T-Shirts featuring some of their characters and vintage style prints.
Now we get to talk about the midway actors. This is just another portion of Paranoia that makes them great! It’s almost like you have 2 groups of actors outside, you have the ones in the queue that up’s your heart rate prior to you entering, then you have others who keep guests laughing and entertained. I witnessed the 2 styles in play, one actor scared the hell out of this kid (7ish years old), then he walked away. Then a clown came up and hugged the little kid and reassured her that everything was okay, got her laughing. She walked away, and the kid stuck her tongue out at the actor, then the “Scary” actor came back and completely ruined that safety blanket. He left again, and the clown came back and tried to reassure the kid again. This time, the kid wasn’t buying it. It’s almost like it was planned and it was beautiful to watch it play out. Normally I don’t enjoy seeing kids being put through the ringer, but we’re at a premier haunt and its fair game. Sooooo, while at a haunt like this, it’s #Fthemkids.
You can send complaints to SF’s HR department on the backside of the website if that last comment upsets you.
Overall, Paranoia has definitely raised the bar when it comes to the experience. WIth the new additions within the haunt (which were outstanding and fits the theming so much more), Paranoia holds true to still maintaining it’s stature of being one of the best in the nation.
You can definitely tell the minds behind it all come from theme park backgrounds.
Paranoia checks every box when it comes to expectations of what you’re buying tickets for.
Do NOT glaze over Canton, Georgia this 2024 haunt season!
